Squam Lake is Surrounded by Unbeatable Opportunities for Adventure
Known as not only one of the most peaceful and pristine lakes in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region but also within the entire country, Squam Lake offers a seemingly never-ending list of recreational activities that allow you to enjoy its natural beauty.
Squam Lake is actually comprised of Big Squam Lake and Little Squam Lake, which are connected by a channel in Holderness and play host to 67 islands. To get acquainted with the wonders of Golden Pond and to learn more about its history, be sure to add a boat cruise through the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center to the top of your itinerary.
However, once you are ready to set out on your own waterfront excursion, it might be difficult to decide where to begin. Canoeing and kayaking are ideal for visiting the small beaches of Moon Island and Bowman Island, while boating is great for participating in various water sports, exploring the coastline, and soaking in the views of the Sandwich Range.
Although offshore excursions are certainly popular, you don’t have to stray too far from your Squam Lake cabin rental to enjoy the beauty and excitement of this amazing body of water. You can relax along the waterfront at the Chamberlain-Reynolds Memorial Forest and then tackle its miles of hiking trails or you can climb to the top of Eagle Cliff for breathtaking views of the lake.
The lake is certainly the centerpiece of the area with all of its exciting opportunities for adventure, but there is plenty more to see and do in the Squam Lake area once you get away from the waterfront. The stunning Castle in the Clouds is only a short drive away, while a memorable round is waiting for you at the White Mountain Country Club in Ashland and the Waukewan Golf Club in Center Harbor.
