Ste Agnès is a beautiful medieval village perched on the hills overlooking Menton and the Mediterranean. Only 15 minutes drive from the local beaches it is close to all amenities. From the village one can walk out into the surrounding hills following any one of the many marked hiking routes. Horse riding trips are also available, leaving from just below the village in autumn through to spring, and then from higher up in the hills where it is cooler in the summer. The delights of Monte Carlo are only half an hour away, Nice about 40 minutes away and Cannes and Antibes can be reached in a little over an hour. In the other direction, one can be in Italy for lunch in under 30 minutes and in the historic city of Genoa in about two hours. The friendly village of Ste Agnès also offers entertainment most months with its many fêtes and gatherings. The popular local 'épicerie' caters for most of one's basic needs; supplying groceries, frozen foods, drinks, cleaning products amongst other things.

  • A deposit of 30% will be taken upon reservation. The balance will be paid 6 weeks before the rental dates. If the reservation is made less than 6 weeks before the rental dates, the amount will be paid in full. A damage deposit of £200 is also requested. You will be provided with an inventory of the property upon your arrival, and any serious damage caused during your visit will be taken from the deposit. The rest will be returned to you by cheque. Broken crockery, glassware etc can be replaced during your stay, or a small cash contribution can be left on your departure.

    During High Season, bookings from midweek to midweek will be charged by the nightly rate and not the weekly rate.

    During Monaco Gran Prix week, the weekly rate will be of £650 with a minimum booking of four nights at £110 per night.
  • Included in the rental is bed linen and towels. The property will be thoroughly cleaned between each visit. Hand soap, shower gel, toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, laundry detergent and conditioner as well as basic food stuffs will all be provided and the guests are not required to replace these items. However, any books, DVDs or CDs supplied are only for use during the stay and guests are asked not to take these items with them on departure.

  • The main bathroom contains the large bath and shower, a large sink and bidet. It has plenty of shelf space and a large laundry basket as well as a heated towel rail. Next door is the upstairs toilet, also containing a small sink and plenty of additional shelf and cupboard space. The second toilet is downstairs, with an accompanying sink in the storage room.

  • The master bedroom is the largest room in the house and contains an extra large double bed, two bedside tables, a chest of drawers and a very large wardrobe. This beautiful bedroom also boasts impressive views of the surrounding mountains. The second bedroom is on a mezzanine, and is accessed by a charming wooden staircase. It is smaller than the master bedroom but still contains a double bed, two bedside table and a fair-sized wardrobe. The large, internal window looks out through the kitchen and over the mountains. The third and smallest bedroom contains a small double 'futon' bed and a small canvas wardrobe. It is below the second mezzanine bedroom, and thus its internal window has a similar view. The room is the most suitable for children, and indeed a child's travel cot can be provided if required. The third bedroom also houses the computer and printer with its table and an office chair.

Notes: Rooms are heated by electric heaters which are effective and easy to use. Windows are all double glazed and curtained. Apartment is accessed by short staircase, and has steps leading to and from some rooms. Anyone not sure of foot would be better taking the master bedroom. Wheelchair access is not a possibility, neither in the apartment nor in the village itself. There are a lot of steps and the streets are fairly inclined and all cobbled. A stair gate is provided for children if required but it is not recommended for very small children to be in the mezzanine bedroom. Bed linen, towels, hand soap, shower gel, laundry detergent & conditioner, loo rolls, kitchen rolls, washing-up liquid and basic food stuffs are provided none of which guests are expected to replace. Also DVDs, Cd's, novels and guidebooks, however these are not to be removed upon departure. The apartment does not have a terrace, but in the village there are three restaurants, all with remarkable views and large terraces

An Outside, Inside.: Although the property does not have a garden or a terrace, as this is very rare in Ste Agnes due to the nature of the village, the kitchen has large french windows which open out onto a wonderful view of the beautiful street below and over the rooftops to the mountains beyond. This enables you to enjoy the fresh, mountain air, whilst being in the cook interior of the house. What could be better? The village itself has many little squares with seating provided so that you can make the most of the wonderful vistas, the summer evenings are a wonderful time to make the most of these. It is also a very sociable occasion for the village. For those of you who enjoy eating out of doors, the three restaurants have wonderful terraces offering extraordinary views of the surrounding countryside right down to the sea and across to Italy. You can also pack up a picnic, and within only ten minutes walk of the village you can find endless perfect picnic spots to enjoy your fare.

Wonderful Winter Holidays: Ste Agnes is a remarkable holiday destination all year round. Come from September to May and you can enjoy the peaceful countryside with its wonderfully gentle walks and its more strenuous hiking routes, the horse riding and the birdwatching. Drive down to the coast for walks along the beautifully tranquil beaches, and delicious meals eaten under the warmth of the winter sun. Visit the gardens of Menton - Serre de la Madone, Clos du Peyronnet, La Val Rahmeh, Colombieres and the Maria Serena. Drive over the Italian border to enjoy the Hanbury Gardens with their incredible vista over the Mediterranean. Make the most of the opera and concert season in Menton, Monte Carlo and Nice, with events two or three times during each week. Give yourself a very special Christmas overlooking the snow capped hills surrounding Ste Agnes; a Christmas tree and all the decorations you could possibly wish for as well as Christmas music CDs are provided to help you make it a truly memorable experience.

Other activities: The ski resort of Isola 2000 situated in the Mercantour area of the Alpes Maritimes, part of the Mercantour ski domain. The lift served area extends from 2000 metres to 2603 metres. There are 120 km of lift served runs. The resort features a snowpark. Isola has a good snow record and is normally open from December until the end of April. 120km from Ste Agnes - 2 hour's drive. Limone is one of Italy's oldest ski resorts, has been attracting visitors since the early days of skiing. Majority of the runs best suited for intermediates, only a few runs for beginners. Some travelling needed to find black runs and off-pistes. Due to altitude, snow cover can be a bit unpredictable. 400km from Ste Agnes - 4 hour's drive.
