Les Vignes, a 100 year old Normandy country house offers exceptionally comfortable and attractive accommodation for 8 persons plus 2 babies. There are 3 large bedrooms, one with a mezzanine/4th bedroom/playroom, all with stunning views across the garden and beyond to the hills of the Suisse Normande. The 2 lovely sitting-rooms both have French windows to the garden; one has a baby grand piano, a further living room has an open fire and French doors to a south facing patio and the gardens. There is an exceptionally well equipped kitchen and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Les Vignes is within easy reach of the D day landing beaches and all local outdoor sporting activies

Les Vignes offers exceptional family holiday accommodation. Situated in secluded south facing wooded gardens of 2 acres set on the side of a hill, this pretty country house overlooks the hills of the Suisse Normande. It is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the unpsoilt riverside town of Pont D'Ouilly. This lovely old Normandy house is perfect for a quiet relaxing break or outdoor sporting activity holiday including mountain biking, walking, paragliding, horse-riding, water-skiing, jet-skiing and golf. There are 12 golf courses within easy reach, Clecy being the nearest, 9 kms by road. It is ideally situated for sightseeing; the historic towns of Caen and Falaise are within 30 minutes drive, Bayeaux, Bagnoles de L'Orne, Domfront, Deauville and Honfleur, Mont St Michel and also the D-day landing beaches are all within an hour's drive. Paris can be reached by TGV from Caen, 2 hours or by road - just over 2 hours.

  • All bedrooms are tastefully furnished and decorated; they are light and airy, south facing and all have stunning views across the garden to the hills beyond. All the bedrooms are a good size, there is a copious amount of wardrobe/cupboard space in each room. Bed linen is included in the price with spare eiderdowns and blankets in each bedroom; all upstairs windows have child safety catches. There are 2 cots, a carry cot, 2 child buggies and children's sleeping bags as well as plenty of baby bed linen and blankets. Sleeps maximum 8 plus 2 babies/toddlers.

Notes: Accommodation is suitable for maximum 8 plus 2 babies or toddlers. There are two cookers in the kitchen, one electric and the other gas. There are 3 ovens in total plus a microwave which can also be used as a conventional grill/oven. There are two very pretty sitting rooms both with French windows opening onto the garden; one has a grand piano, the other is the television room with satellite TV, DVD player, CD player etc. There is also a large beautiful dining-room with open fireplace, this room opens on to a South facing patio.

Pont D'Ouilly - a pretty riverside town: Pont D'Ouilly is a small, quaint and very pretty unspoilt riverside town. Among its facilities are 2 patisseries, butcher, post office, pharmacy, garage, mini supermarket, 2 bars and 5 good restaurants which between them offer a wide range of excellent regional cuisine. There is a fresh fish market every Friday and a general market on Sundays throughout the year. A tea dance on the river bank takes place every Sunday during the summer. There is a park with children's play area and tennis courts. A swimming pool is within 7 kms. Canoes and kayaks can be hired, and there are many beautiful walks and mountain bike routes, some short and easy, others long and challenging. One and two week fishing licences are available. Horse riding is very poular in this area and there are many local stables where horses and ponies can be hired.

Suisse Normande - an area of rugged beauty : The Suisse Normande is an area of outstanding natural beauty; rivers, deep gorges, rugged hills, deep forests and a shoreline with miles of sandy beaches, a coastal area ideal for sand yachting, wind surfing and sailing. Les Vignes is perfectly situated for touring this area; the spectacular scenery and wide variety of unusual wildlife is an artist's paradise; the tranquillity of this beautiful country house and its gardens provide a haven for peace and relaxation but is within easy reach of local shops,all local activities, good restaurants and a night life.

Calvados - a gastronomic and cultural paradise: Calvados is an area which provides a gastronomic and cultural paradise. Fresh seafood, cheese, veal, beef pork, apples, walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, cider and apple brandy form a natural basis for a food lover's dream! It is an area of immense historical and cultural interest; the Normandy landing beaches, cemeteries and museums, the castles of William the Conqueror, numerous chateaux, gardens, zoological parks, fromageries, are all within very easy reach. There are long sandy beaches, safe for bathing, kite surfing, wind surfing, sand yachting and swimming. There are 31 golf courses in the Calvados area of Normandy, 12 within easy reach of Les VIgnes, Clecy being the nearest ( 9 kms.)
