Praia D'El Rey Golf & Country Club occupies an enviable position on the Atlantic coast, offering superb surf beaches, sand dunes, beautiful pine forests and a wealth of sport and leisure activities. The 600 acre resort is a comfortable one hour drive north of Lisbon International Airport, on the A8 motorway. Located west of the medieval fortress town of Óbidos and close to the picturesque fishing village of Peniche. Offshore lie the Berlenga Islands designated as a national nature reserve. The area is also renowned for its wonderful seafood restaurants and delicious wines. The property is on the second floor (one up from ground), with balconies for every room. Perfectly manicured gardens and pool surround the apartment. Car parking spot. Local activities diving, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, wind-surfing, water skiing.

Obidos and Peniche are the two nearest towns. Obidos dating from 300 BC is a medieval walled town with narrow streets and bougainvillea covered houses leading to the castle at the top of the hill. Peniche is a working fishing port where day trips to the Berlengas islands (a national park) can be taken in summer (May to Sept). A castle, museum and excellent seafood restaurants complete the mix. Other interesting towns are Bombarral (wine), Caldas da Rainha and Foz de Arrelho. Further afield are the religious shrine at Fatima, historic Coimbra, Sintra and of course Lisbon. Lisbon is only 1 hour away and is one of the gems of Europe. This brand new apartment is in the exclusive Praia D'El Rey development, the best resort in the region. It is a few minutes to the golf clubhouse, with its view and meals, is about 300 metres to an uncrowded golden surf beach, and is 200 metres to the tennis centre.

Surfing information: Baleal is 5km from the resort, and is known as the surfing capital of Portugal. There are surfing schools in the area, and plenty of beach and reef breaks.

Golf: The excellent coastal 18 hole championship golf course was ranked 1st in Portugal by the Peugeot Golf Guide. It is rated 13th in Europe and 80th in the world by Golf World. This apartment is only 200 metres from the clubhouse. The course is set in extensive grounds of pine forest and sand dunes with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlenga Islands beyond. The par 72 is part links style and part woodlands, and is a good test for both the high handicapped golfer as well as the more advanced player. There is a well equipped clubhouse with excellent practice facilities including a short game practice area, and has a great view for your post-round refreshments! There are very good English speaking professionals. Buggies, trolleys and clubs are all available to rent. You will need an official handicap of 28 or less for men, 36 for ladies. The resort is also within a reasonable driving distance of several other challenging golf courses within the region.
