Additional facilities: El Tinao has a TV for playing DVD/CDs, and a selection of DVDs, books and games is provided. We also provide free use of mountain bikes. Canar has 3 bars serving tapas and traditional Alpujarran meals. There is a pharmacy and a well-stocked grocers which even opens on Sundays! Swimming is available in Orgiva for a small charge.

Further afield: Golf - there are 2 courses within 40 minutes of Canar; one on the coast in Salobrena, the other on the near side of Granada city. Skiiing - the World Championship resort of Pradollano in the Sierra Nevada is 1 hour 15 minutes from Canar, while paragliding, windsurfing and diving are available in Salobrena and Almunecar on the Costa Tropical. The historic cities of Sevilla and Cordoba are both within reach for day trips, each at approximately 3 hours' drive. Not forgetting, of course, The Alhambra Palace and Generalife gardens in Granada, and we will happily book advance tickets for guests.

Canar is a great base from which to explore La Alpujarra either on foot or by car. The famous GR7 walking route goes right through the village, with the famous spa town of Lanjaron a 2 hour walk to the west, and a glorious 200 foot waterfall (El Dique) marking the half way point to Soportujar in the east (an easy 1.5 hour walk). We provide copies of The Rough Guide to Andalucia, Jeremy Rabjohn's excellent 'Holiday Walks in The Alpujarra' and a detailed walking map which you're free to take with you whenever you're heading out.
