Further details about this apartment rental
After a day on the water or relaxing on the beach, enjoy a cold drink while watching the sun set over the mountains of Tiburón Island before walking to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Wind up the day with brandy and conversation on the veranda under a clear night sky filled with stars, or moonlight dancing on the water.
Come for a romantic weekend or a week (seventh night is free) and a little “Kino-therapy!”
We respect your wish to spend a healthy visit enjoying the clean air of the Sonoran coast, so we maintain a “No-Smoking Facility” (both in the rooms and on the grounds). To ensure a healthy environment, Pets are Not Allowed.
Se Habla Español.
Amenities:
We provide no meals, but a well-equipped kitchenette (sink, microwave, under-counter refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, cups, glasses, and utensils -- NO COOKTOP OR OVEN) allows you to prepare your own breakfast, lunch or dinner if you prefer to eat in.
Most food items are available at one of the nearby tiendas, or ‘supermercados’ (one about four blocks away); there are many small food stores and panaderias in the nearby village of Kino Viejo; or bring a selection of your own favorite foods.
TV provided for VIDEOS, CDs, and DVDs; NO CHANNEL OR CABLE ACCESS.
Two sit-on kayaks (one single, one double) are available (without charge) for your use in the gentle waters outside your door. More adventurous visitors can rent new expedition-style kayaks (less than a block away) to explore the nearby estuary or the tidal pools north of town.
Activities:
Kino Bay is located on the picturesque shores of the Sea of Cortez, and is blessed with one of the most beautiful, and uncrowded, beaches in all of Mexico. Begin your morning with a long walk on this sandy seven mile arc with a view of several islands offshore and excellent shelling areas nearby.
Swim or Kayak in the warm Sea of Cortez, or relax on our broad veranda and watch a Pod of Dolphins swim by. Sometimes you’ll see dozens, even hundreds, of Birds Diving on schools of small fish. The Sea of Cortez is one of the world’s most remarkable natural environments. Take a Panga Ride to nearby Isla Pelicano to see hundreds of birds nesting among the rocks. Seals and sea lions are often found sunning themselves at the island. Then visit the wreck of a shrimp boat on a nearby beach before pausing for lunch at the oyster shacks in the estuary. Visit the Seri Museum for an insight into the ways of these ancient peoples. Bargain with a street vendor and take home a handmade basket as a memento of your visit. Stop at the Casa del Mar Museum to learn about the Sea of Cortez and the ecology of the Sonoran desert. Check out the local campus of Prescott Collete and their on-the-water courses. Go Whale Watching in February and March, or Deep-Sea Fishing year-round.
Ski: Nights can be cool and it’s a good idea to pack a pair of long pants, socks, sweater, and jacket in case of a cold snap. Getting there: Kino Bay is an easy day’s drive south from Tucson. We can provide you with a detailed travel guide.
Golf: Desert Golfing is available at the local Kino Bay Desert Golf Club. The nearby city of Hermosillo is home to several universities, many good restaurants and hotels, and good bookstores. We’ll be happy to make recommendations. There are cultural events, in Spanish, during much of the year. Mexican Winter League Baseball, in Hermosillo, is an enjoyable way to spend an evening – in any language. The Naranjeros play ball at Hector Espino Stadium during October, November, and December, with playoffs in January. Most games (except double headers) begin at 7:30 pm. BR B Area: /B BR Weather: The Sonoran coast is enjoyable most of the year. From early May to late October the Sea of Cortez is warm and swimmable. Air temperatures can be very hot mid-July to mid-September. Our location on the Sea of Cortez means it doesn’t freeze in Kino Bay. Winter days are generally warm, and most visitors wear shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops.
Other Activities: kayaking
