- Air mattress and portable crib also available. **We have just recently tucked a twin bed into the corner of the master bedroom sitting area, to provide extra sleeping arrangements, and a bed rail is also available for a young child. The sleep maximum of 9 takes into consideration the use of all the beds, including the queen sized air mattress, and the portable crib. We do not encourage or recommend a capacity of more than 9 for practical and safety reasons, taking into consideration the size of the house and its amenities. Thank you for understanding.

The Full bedroom is ideal for children, teens, a nanny, second couple or grandparents. The third bedroom includes 2 twin beds and is designed with children in mind as well. The home is fully equipped with all the basic amenities to make your stay comfortable and convenient. It provides a cool respite in the summer and a cozy and inviting place to gather in the cold winter months. Ideal for cross country ski vacations on Mount Desert Island Carriage Roads. ***We are members of the Southwest Harbor/Tremont Chamber of Commerce.
There is no shortage of activities available on Mount Desert Island. 120 miles of impeccably maintained carriage trails provide ideal conditions for biking, hiking, or cross-country skiing. The many ponds and lakes and quick access to the ocean allow for swimming, sailing, motor boating, beachcombing, and other activities. On rainy days, visit a local historical library, museum, or gallery.
In the winter, go ice-fishing, head north for the dog sled races for a day, or go snowshoeing, snowmobiling, or sledding! If you enjoy the outdoors, this is the place to be! The scenic views are breathtaking any time of the year. Play golf, take a garden tour, watch a local performance, and have a great meal! Ledges Cottage is ideally located on a quiet circle about 5 miles from the center of Southwest Harbor. It is conveniently located 1 mile or less from the nearest convenience store, post office, town office, and the working docks. In addition, the Bar Harbor Airport just 15 miles away makes your flight into town a breeze. (Bangor Airport is located approx. 50 miles away).
Ski: For those interested in cross country skiing, there are plenty of well-groomed carriage trails available on Mount Desert Island. During the winter when the Park Loop road is closed, many skiers also take advantage of the opportunity to ski there as well, and the views are spectacular!
