Activities:: For the 'Best of the Best' Things to Do Up-North, please call or E-mail us for this highlighted information on everything that happens North of Cadillac, MI. (Horseback riding, canoeing, golf, fishing, boat rentals, museums, eateries, etc.). Spring/Summer Activities: Wednesday Walk-About, Wednesdays. Located at Schuss Village. This nature-focused hike gave families and individuals a chance to tour the picturesque acreage of Shanty Creek Resort & Club while searching for distinct Northern Michigan “treasures”. Terry Wooten's Stone Circle, Wednesdays. Located behind the Family Activity Center in Schuss Village. Guests gathered around the campfire for poetry and storytelling led by legendary poet Terry Wooten and his guests. Goofy Golf, Thursdays. Located on the practice green near the Summit Pro Shop, guests joined us for a goofy game of “putt putt style” golf. Dueling Pianos. See Shanty's very own Dueling Pianos Show.
Area:: Torch Lake and Lake Bellaire provide easy access to water sports in a 'Caribbean-like' setting. Boat rentals are available at local marinas; multiple DNR launches provide convenient access to Michigan's best Waterways. Many Walleye, Whitefish and Trout stories have boasted that the fishing can be 'excellent' in both the nearby cold-water lakes and streams. The Dockside Bar & Grill, at Clam River & Torch Lake, has a wonderful setting to observe people and their diverse watercrafts passing by the outdoor patio. They have an extensive menu for both food and drink. Brief History of Shanty Creek---- When Roy Deskin thought about the high, tree-green hills and curving valleys surrounding Bellaire in Michigan's Antrim County, he envisioned a challenging ski and golf resort, satisfying to all visitors. New Ownership in 1997 allowed Shanty Creek to embark on the Cedar River Village which included the expansion of downhill runs to 49 and adding the Cedar River G.C. by Weiskopf.
