  • A $300 security deposit is required ($500 for dog(s)) and refunded within 14 days of departure provided the rental agreement/contract conditions are met.
  • Security deposit is due at the time of the reservation.
    50% of the total rental fee is due 60 days prior to arrival date.
    The balance of the rental fee is due 14 days prior to the arrival date. Due to exceptionally slow mail distribution at our location, mailed payments should be postmarked 10 days ahead of due date to ensure timely delivery.
    The one-week minimum for major holidays applies to rentals where arrival, stay, or departure includes Christmas, New Year's, Fourth of July, Labor Day, or Thanksgiving. Sorry for any apparent discrepancies. The 'notes' area in the rate chart didn't allow room for details.
    Late payment will result in cancellation (at the owners' discretion) and amount of refund will follow the cancellation policy. Cancellations or changes resulting in shorter duration of stay that are made within 60 days of the arrival date forfeit the full down payment and security deposit, and those within 14 days of arrival do not warrant a refund of any rent or deposit.

Notes: Picnic table in the back yard as well as a large fenced area for dogs with access to an indoor kennel (in the garage). Main deck and Master bedroom balcony include deck furniture. Four collapsible captain's chairs can be used for picnics along the Wise River or Big Hole River. Inner tubes available for floating on the Wise River as well as a small tire pump for inflation. We will consider dog(s) but, no cats (sorry). There is an additional full size refrigerator and a full size freezer in the utility room in the lower level. Please note: A 4 x 4 vehicle is highly recommended mid-October to March.

Activities and adventure: This property backs directly to state land that is adjacent to federal (USFS) land. Consequently, the renters of this home have direct access to thousands of acres of mountain wildlands. Hike right from the house to high alpine lakes. Moose, mule deer, elk, sandhill cranes, eagles, hawks, hummingbirds and other songbirds are frequent visitors. Bear and wolf tracks are often seen when hiking behind the house. Yellowstone National Park is 3 hours away. Bannack ghost town, the first territorial capitol of Montana, is 25 minutes away as is Coolidge ghost town. The Big Hole Battlefield National Monument, nature trails, museum and interpretive center is a beautiful one hour drive from the house. Torrey Ranch Estates includes a small grocery store and 2 small trout fishing ponds for children.

More home details: This attractive, custom built home is 13 years old, solidly constructed and well-insulated. The exterior is cedar-sided and features two decks as well as a front patio and a back patio. The interior is highlighted by an abundance of wood and many large windows. The house is surrounded by aspen trees and large boulders and the views from all rooms of the house incorporate these into the expansive mountain views. The walkout basement includes a guest bedroom and full bath, a utility room with washer and dryer and a study/family area with a piano, foosball table, large windows and a walkout patio.

More home details: The main floor of the house includes a large master bedroom featuring cathedral ceilings, French doors with a walkout balcony (great views of the ski area) and a beautifully done master bath which includes a tiled vanity with two sinks, an oversized built-in (tiled) tub, and an attractive separate double shower. There is a large etched glass window between the master bath and the master bedroom. The large kitchen, also on the main floor, has extensive tiled counters with multiple oak cabinets and drawers. The main floor dining area features walkout sliding glass doors to a back patio and the main floor living area features multiple windows and access to a large deck. The main floor guest bedroom has two large windows and there is a separate, adjoining full guest bath (with tiled vanity). The upper floor has a fourth bedroom with beautiful views overlooking the aspen trees and a separate full bath.

Ski: Maverick Mountain ski area is 10 minutes from the house as is Elkhorn hot springs for after ski soaking. Local relief at the ski area is 1800 feet with several challenging and intermediate runs and a 200 foot bunny slope. Season depends on snow, but is usually before Christmas through mid-March. Hours are Thursday through Sunday 9:30 - 4; half day starts at 1 PM. Open ALL days Dec. 22 through January 3. Ski equipment rentals and lessons are available. Many cross-country and snowmobile trails at Elkhorn Hot Springs (10 minutes from the house). 'True' backcountry (cross country) skiing directly behind the house on state and national forest lands.
