The property is named after Queen Victoria’s granddaughter, born Charlotte of Prussia. She and husband Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Meiningen were former owners, and Charlotte created delightful gardens on its grounds. More recently, the property housed a mid-century hotel. This was taken down to its concrete walls and rebuilt in 2008 to become today’s Villa Charlotte.
