The Neighborhood and Local Area: The house is located at the southern tip of Warwick Neck, a very quiet neighborhood on a peninsula that is miles away from any major commercial developments. The neighborhood consists almost exclusively of very well-maintained single-family homes surrounded by walkable shoreline. Points of interest on this peninsula include Warwick Country Club (private, 18-hole), Warwick Neck Lighthouse (established in 1827), Aldrich Mansion, Seaview Country Club (public, 9-hole) and several marinas. Rocky Point Amusement Park, first opened in the late 1840's, closed in 1995. Restaurants, gas stations, supermarkets and pharmacies, are located along West Shore Road (Rt. 117) and Warwick Avenue, north of the peninsula. Oakland Beach is approximately 10 minutes west and is known for Iggy's, a popular local seafood stand, its ocean view and playground. Conimicut Point Park, approximately 15 minutes north, is a state park with a sandy beach that is popular with the local surf fishing crowd.
About Warwick, RI: Warwick, RI is the second largest city in Rhode Island relative to Providence. However, in reality, Warwick is mostly suburban, with the only true urban element being TF Green Airport, Rhode Island's main commercial airport. The airport is conveniently located 10 minutes north of the property, but low overhead air traffic or noise is almost non-existent. Warwick also has a significant concentration of indoor regional malls, retail centers and freestanding stores that are all located on the far west side of the city along Bald Hill Road, approximately 20 minutes west of the house. Interstate 95 is located 15 minutes west of the property.
Regional Activities: Some of the largest beaches in Rhode Island are located in Narragansett, Newport and Point Judith. These beaches have lifeguards, large parking lots and restroom facilities. Narragansett/Scarborough beaches and Point Judith/Galilee are approximately 45 minutes south, while Newport Second Beach is approximately 1 hour southeast. The closest Martha's Vineyard ferries are located in North Kingston, RI, approximately 30 minutes south of the property. The closest Block Island ferry, charter fishing, whale-watching trips and freshly caught lobster are located in Point Judith, Galilee and Narragansett, RI, approximately 45 minutes south of the property. Roger Williams Park and Zoo, located 20 minutes north of the property, is a popular destination for children. Downtown Providence and the Waterfire Festival is a 30 minute drive north of the property. Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun casinos and Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are in Connecticut, approximately 1 hour southwest of the property.
Golf: Warwick Country Club is a Donald Ross designed, 18-hole, par-69 private golf course located just north of the property. Amenities include formal dining and function rooms, six tennis courts, Olympic swimming pool and yacht club. Please contact the club directly for membership or guest status. Seaview Country Club is a 9-hole, par-72 public golf course approximately 5 minutes north of the property. Tee times are available daily.
