Location description: This property Is located on Underwood Road in Falmouth Foreside, former sight of the once famous Casino at Underwood Spring and the Underwood Spring Bottling Company. During it's heyday around the turn of the century, this grand hotel, complete with it's sandy bathing beach, beach gazebo, electric fountains and pure spring water, was accessed by electric trolley from nearby Portland making it a summer destination for thousands from around the globe. It's spring, located on the property, was once considered 'one of the most marvelous in the world' and in 1911 was awarded both The Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the Paris Exposition - the highest award ever given a mineral or drinking water and also received The Medal of Excellence from the American Institute of New York.

Things to do: The casino and it's beautiful fountains are since long gone, but the bathing beach still remains along with the once famous spring endlessly spilling its cool water onto the beach. Most use it now for washing the sand off feet or rinsing off fishing reels before heading back to the house to grill up our days catch (or buy some fresh Maine lobsters at the Town Landing Market right down the street! They'll even ship 'em to your friends back home!) Simply relax with a book in a beach chair on the beach, take a swim, or try your luck fishing for stripers right from the beach! Paddle the canoe on a calm day, or bring your kayak and explore the shoreline and nearby islands. Want a break from the water? Go hit a golf ball at one of several local golf courses! There's even a nine holer on nearby Great Chebeague Island with a par 3 over a tidal cove! (You can get your lost ball at low tide!)

More things to do: A ten minute drive north brings you to the town of Freeport, home of L.L. Bean's flagship store and all the famous outlet stores surrounding it. Ten minutes south will bring you into Portland, Maine's largest city, known for it's famous Old Port District for more shopping, museums, and some of this country's finest restaurants. Explore the islands of Casco Bay on a Casco Bay Lines ferry, or go whale watching or sailing on a schooner from Portlands waterfront. Change it up! A 30 minute drive to the west will bring you to the shores of Sebago Lake and the sandy beaches of Sebago Lake State Park. One hour further in the same direction you will be in North Conway and the White Mountains of New Hampshire...an easy day trip!
