Further details about this house rental
Segorbe: The city of Valencia is only 55 km from Segorbe. Valencia is a very diverse City with Gothic buildings as well as a very modern building such as the 'Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias'- a cultural center which includes a science museum, an aquarium, IMAX theater, exhibitions, sports facilities and parks. You can also go to the beaches of the Costa de Azahar. The Costa de Azahar ( Orange Blossom Coast) is located only 20 km from Segorbe.
The noble, loyal and heroic city of Segorbe pulsates halfway between the highland of Aragón and the Valencian coast in the centre of the valley followed by the river Palencia between the Espadán and Calderona mountain ranges. As well as being Alto Palancia’s administrative, commercial and religious capital (diocese of Segorbe/Castellón) it has an extensive historical and artistic heritage, was declared as a Cultural Interest Asset in 2002 and has very interesting natural areas. The presence of men here in the Bronze Age is witnessed in the Municipal Archaeological Museum. On the same hill where the medieval fortress lays today, Segóbriga’s Celtiberian city was once built. The Romanisation was intense and on top of its acropolis a powerful Roman fortified hill-fort was later built. Subsequently, the Muslims built a castle on top of the important Visigoth bishop headquarters, which was later conquered in 1245-1246 by king Jaume I.
The walls and towers embracing the old town date back to the middle ages. The tourist journey starts with a compulsory visit to the Cathedral (14th-16th centuries) and its Gothic cloister (13th century) where the Cathedral’s Museum which has one of the best collections of medieval panels is located. Other interesting religious buildings are the San Martín church in the Agustinas convent, highlighted by Jacomart’s Gothic altarpiece and Ribalta’s paintings; and San Pedro Apóstol, San Joaquín and Santa Ana
