Other Features: Hemond House has its own private beach on the west shore of Isle La Motte, 5 minutes by bicycle. St. Anne’s Shrine offers a public sandy beach. The Alburg Dunes State Park, a 10 minute car ride, offers one of the longest sandy beaches on Lake Champlain. Bring your own bicycles, canoe, kayak, or windsurfer. The Alburg Golf Course is 7 minutes away with views of the Adirondack & Green Mountains from every hole. .

About Isle La Motte: Isle La Motte, Vermont is the northernmost island of Lake Champlain. About 7 miles by three miles it is rural community with about 500 residents year round residents. This number swells in the summer months when the beauty of the island and access to the lake attract vacationers, cyclists and part-time residents. Isle LaMotte has a small general store, two churches, a post office and library, historical society and two nature and geological preserves.

Isle La Motte Geology: sle La Motte geology is unique. The bedrock of the southern third of the island consists of the Chazy Fossil Reef, the oldest biologically diverse reef in the world and a protected National Natural Landmarkl About 100 acres of this geological formation is protected in two preserves, the 83 acre Goodsell Ridge Preserve with interpretive signage, trails and a visitor center and the 20 acre Fisk Quarry Preserve. Fossil collecting not permitted!
