Additional details: A modern renovation was undertaken in 2007 including the addition of a professional kitchen, a beautiful Sun room and restoration of the verandas and decks. All bathrooms have been updated with modern fixtures. The house is tastefully and comfortably appointed with modern touches and period antiques. For large parties, there is also a carriage house with two bedrooms and a kitchenette accommodating an additional four guests. In 1927 Arthur Young, founder of the international accounting firm of the same name, purchased the home. By this time Aiken was a well-known destination for international sporting enthusiasts and as the home of the storied Winter Colony. It has been reported that Arthur Young purchased the Crossways for $40,000 and spent $35,000 remodeling it. In 1948, Arthur Young died at Crossways and was buried in Bethany cemetery.
A modern renovation was undertaken in 2007 including the addition of a professional kitchen, a beautiful Sun room and restoration of the verandas and decks. All bathrooms have been updated with modern fixtures. The house is tastefully and comfortably appointed with modern touches and period antiques. For large parties, there is also a carriage house with two bedrooms and a kitchenette accommodating an additional four guests.
Crossways is the perfect location to host guests for the Masters. Guests find that the Aiken Regional airport is less crowded and more convenient than Augusta. Aiken is within 15 minutes of Augusta National and provides a unique setting, culture, history and warmth. We can arrange golf at the world renowned Palmetto golf Club, the nation's 2nd oldest during your stay for the Masters.
