Lake Level Policy: Douglas Lake water levels are controlled throughout the year by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The lake levels at Douglas Lake vary about 41 feet over the course of a normal year. Under normal conditions, Douglas stores spring rainwater for release during the dry summer and fall months to maintain adequate depths for navigation on the Tennessee River and to generate electricity. Water levels begin dropping in late summer to provide space for the next spring’s rains. We can not be held responsible for the water levels effect on docks, views or recreational activities such as swimming, boating or fishing. The water is typically low from the months of September 9th through the beginning of April. If we are aware of unusually low water during the normal recreational season, we will inform you of such upon your reservation. Please see our website for current lake levels and photos.
