General Overview: Biking north takes you to the town center beach and craft shops, another block north to charter & site seeing and evening disco party boat docks, and eventually to the north pier beyond which a 4WD vehicle would be required to get to the northern tip of the island. Biking south you will pass another fishing pier, then historic Ft. Fisher, the civil war museum, & the NC Aquarium just south of the 4WD beach access. The north and south ends of the island permit four wheel drive vehicles access for surf fishing, however one of the most productive fishing holes is between Sea Colony beach and the Tiki bar pier a only a short walk north of the beach access. The condos third-level vantage point is nearly level with the flight path of gliding pelicans, affording excellent photographic opportunities. A short walk along the beach, north of your private beach access, leads to the Ocean Grill and Tiki bar atop an observation pier, serving snacks and liquid refreshments. A watchful eye tells the story. The best surf fishing is between the Ocean Grill pier and the Sea Colony beach access. Locals and repeat vacationers can be found lining the beach in the early morning and evenings during tidal changes. Fishing charters to coastal reefs sail daily. Bait and tackle are available within walking distance. When wind and tides are right, surfing action peaks for participants and observers. Evening breezes a few miles south of Sea Colony, just past the Ferry to Southport, attracts wind and para-surfers. Bring your camera, when they launch into the air you'll definitely want to capture that in the setting sun. A 'must see' is the New Aquarium 2.5 miles south. NEW this summer - world class Skate Board Park, east of the lake adjacent to the little league ball park off Dow Rd.

About the accommodations: All new sleeping accommodations and carpeting were recently installed, so you'll never hear footsteps above or on the steps to disrupt the tranquility of your stay. Additional beach-level storage (big enough for surf boards and bikes) is provided for your convenience.
