- The sound of the ocean will lull you to sleep in the peaceful and romantic master bedroom, furnished with a heavenly hand carved four posted Balinese Teak KING bed, Hawaiian bed linens, koa-wood framed art, a carved wood ceiling fan, restored teak ceiling-to-floor shutters, fine furnishings and generous mirrors, all softened by sheers of bed drapes drawn back by hand made rope. Wow! A spiral staircase leads from the living room to the soft blue-greens of the upstairs loft-bedroom, decorated in a sophisticated and private grass hut style, including a cozy reading nook and lauhala mat wall coverings. The queen bed is shrouded with romantic mosquito netting, and woven mats provide excellent privacy. This room is fully furnished and has a full-size closet. Ceiling fans keep this room very comfortable.

You will be delighted by all the little extras provided by the owners (CD collection of Hawaiian music, books on Hawaiian culture and history, binoculars for whale and dolphin sightings, and much more!) Kona Makai is among the most sought after vacation destinations in the Kona area. This beautifully landscaped condominium community has won numerous awards for its gardens, and is walking distance to the heart of the town. The pool, spa, gas BBQ, gym (with exercise machines and weights), tennis courts, ping-pong tables, community areas and on-the-ocean lounging patio make this a complete island retreat. Known for the friendliness of it’s visitors, the complex is located well off Ali’i drive where there is no automobile traffic or noise to interrupt the peaceful ambiance.
The ocean is often safely accessible from the inlet immediately in front of the common areas, where you will find yourself within a fantastic snorkeling reef, with numerous arches and a plethora of tropical fish and sea life. We always see turtles during our swims. A large lava outcropping covered with tide pools lies immediately in front of the building awaiting your exploration.
