JULY 12-19 STILL OPEN. If your looking for an outstanding family vacation spot, this is it! Facing south on a gently rising peninsula, the 'North Shore' sits on a 1/2 acre lot with 121 ft. of waterfront. You can see the lake from 13 of the 14 windows. Large screened porch overlooking the lake (& the kids swimming) in which to eat, relax and nap. Clear, clean water, full sun all day, protected swim area for the kids, hard-packed sand bottom (no muck, rocks, weeds or drop off), new swim raft, great fishing (we'll show you the spots!), 2 kayaks, canoe, paddle boat, 16 ft. sail boat and 16 foot fishing boat with outboard, trolling motor & depth finder, guest fishing gear, swim & play toys, huge sand play area, fire ring & hammock. Fully equipped kitchen, drilled well, fireplace & sauna. 1/2 mile off the main road, no noise, traffic or distractions. Bunkhouse gives kids or another family their own space. You won't find a more kid and family friendly place any where! NO BUGS! Super!

Located just outside the Adirondack Park, the North Shore is a two hour drive from both the Canadian national capital of Ottawa and the ski jumps and shopping of Lake Placid and the High Peaks area (with its spectacular fall foliage). The 1000 Island region of the St. Lawrence River and the newly opened Wild Museum in Tupper Lake are just 1 hour away. Restaurants and grocery stores in Canton and Gouverneur are 30 minutes away. Short of the rare rainy day though, we find most folks who come as guests quickly experience a 'pace adjustment' and find it difficult to leave the water's edge. If you're truly seeking a break from it all, and some genuine peace and quiet this is the place for you!

  • The master bedroom is located on the 2nd floor with a wonderful king sized bed at one end and a sleeping nook with two twin beds at the other (there is also a twin couch/futon); and has two ceiling fans and two stand-up fans. The downstairs bedroom is off the kitchen and also has its own outside entrance; and has a ceiling fan. There is a queen sized futon on the screened porch for those hot sticky nights when you want to fall asleep to a gentle breeze and the sound of water lapping the shore. All sheets are 100% cotton, and there plenty of pillows and blankets. There is a stereo and VCR/DVD player and TV in the master bedroom for a late night movie or music. The bunk house is a world unto itself, with a new queen bed, full bed, and a bunk bed suitable for kids (the bunk house also has fans, a VCR/DVD player & TV). A great place for kids, a couple or 2nd family. Plenty of dresser space in each sleeping area. A portable play pen/sleep bed suitable for a toddler is also available.

Notes: Our kitchen is fully equipped with just about everything you would want: 2 coffee makers (one for decaf and one for regular!), waffle maker, food processor, pizza stones, commercial grade blender (for the daiquiris, of course), new microwave oven, new gas stove, dishwasher, top mount fridge, 2 toasters, Feista ware dishes, power juicer, ice cream making ball (bring your own rock salt!), all kinds of spices, panini maker, corkscrew (in case you forget), electric frying pan, ice bucket, additional apartment sized fridge in the pantry and an additional dorm sized fridge on the porch. Herb garden out back. All water is from a drilled well and is excellent. Washer and dryer. Plenty of line space to dry wet suits and towels. Sauna. Plenty of videos and DVDs (both for adults and kids). Board games, cards, toys. Fireplace for a cozy evening, monitor heater for a cool morning. Pub style dining room table (set higher up to see the lake) seats 10. Ceiling fans in kitchen & dining room.

Further details about this house rental

Although primarily a summer rental, 'The North Shore' is fully insulated and is available throughout the year. The bass fishing on Trout Lake is excellent, season opens the second Saturday in June. Also, being a short drive to the high peaks of the Adirondacks we afford a wonderful laid back and relaxed alternative for leaf peepers to get away in the evenings from the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. 'The North Shore' is available for St. Lawrence University commencement (3 night rental), Family weekend (2 or 3 night rental) or for a visit at anytime. Winter is perhaps our best kept secret: snow shoe, ski or fish the lake and come on in for a sauna and an evening around the fire. Long term rentals and romantic weekends are also possible, and we'll try to work with anyone's schedule or needs.
