Topsail Beach & Topsail Island: Topsail Island is a 24 mile island East of Hampstead, North Carolina, stretching from Figure Eight Island North to Jacksonville and Emerald Isle. Pirates would hide their ships behind the island, thus the name 'Top Sail Island'. Since the 1960's, Topsail has slowly developed over time with very few stop lights and speed limits are slow. In the summer months, our beaches are sparsely covered with sun and sea worshipers. With inlets, the Inter-coastal Waterway, the Atlantic Ocean and the Sound, aquatic recreation and fishing are easily at-hand with boat ramps, docks, marinas, and repair shops on and off the island. In off-months, a permit is available allowing vehicles on the beach. Our island offers fare from fast food to five star cuisine to suit most tastes. October brings Autumn-Fest to Topsail beach where beach music, good times, and good food come together. Wells Cargo's proximity to the beach, food and entertainment is quickly appreciated once you arrive.

Ski: Water skiers will find the inlets, the Inter-coastal Waterway, the Atlantic Ocean and the sound, perfect on nice days. Boat, jet ski and wave-runner owners should feel secure knowing there are plenty of commercial boat ramps, docks, marinas, and repair shops on and off the island. Visitors coming in from the West will drive over to the island on a large draw bridge, where boats and ships make their way up the Inter-coastal Waterway. Fishing is a short walk away from the house for either the ocean or the sound. Wells Cargo is half a block from the Jolly Roger Pier, providing for a very short walk with rods and tackle in-hand or in-tow. The sound is two blocks to the West, with a sound pier located at the southern end of the island. In off-months, a permit has been available allowing vehicles onto the beach for easy access to the Southern-most tip. In the summer months, our beaches are sparsely covered with sun and sea worshipers and motorized travel is forbidden and enforced.

Golf: If golfing is your game call in for a tee time and step on to one of six area golf courses on the mainland, just off the island around Hampstead as well as the North Shore/Sneads Ferry area across from the northern tip of the island. Topsail Greens is a fair place for a round, is open to the public and offers rentals. There is also a Putt-Putt Golf (miniature golf) one block from your house to practice your putting or get to get it out of your system if you don't find the time to hit the big greens.

Guest Book: As Wells Cargo has been recently opened to the public for rental we currently do not have any guess comments. Members of our family have used the house for many years and almost always bring lots of guests with us and never have any complaints, too busy eating, sleeping, building sand castles, looking for petrified sharks' teeth and soaking up the sun!
