Located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision about half way between Hilo and Pahoa, this comfortable two bedroom home is a perfect base camp for exploring the east side of the Big Island. It has two bedrooms and one bath up stairs with a very comfortable open floor plan decorated in true Hawaiian fashion. It even has a large and comfortable enclosed lanai.

Located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision this comfortable two bedroom home is an ideal base camp for exploring the east side of the Big Island. Hilo one of the most picturesque towns in Hawaii and the central hub of east side of the island is only about a 15 minute drive away. Go the other direction and you end up in Pahoa a town time forgot and filled with some great restaurants and shops. A little further gets you to the Red Road and Kapoho with it's hot ponds to swim in and boasts some of the best snorkeling on the Island. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is only about 20 miles drive 'up the hill' and has days of exploring to do plus you can get up close to a live volcano.

  • A nice clean bathroom to wash the salt off after snorkeling is always nice. Towels are included but if you have a favorite beach towel, bring that along. Let us know if you need some snorkeling gear and be sure to pack the sun screen and insect repellant. Hale Lawa Pono rates:

  • The master bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed to fall asleep in at night. I wonder why it is that everyone sleeps so much better in the tropics. Maybe it's the tropical sounds and smells that lull you to sleep or maybe it's the slower pace of the island that encourages you to slow down and relax, what ever it is you will wake feeling rested and ready for another day in paradise. The entire house has open beamed ceilings and soothing fans to keep you cool in the trade winds. It's because of the trade winds that people don't use air conditioners here, you don't need it. Tthe second bedroom has two twin beds. Ideal for children or a second couple. Even though both bedrooms have ample closet space don't bother to bring many clothes with you. East Hawaii is very casual. Dressing up means putting on a clean aloha (Hawaiian) shirt. A few pair of shorts, a few shirts, bathing suit and slippas (sandals or clip clops) is all you'll ever need unless you are planning on going hiking.

Further details about this rental

Look out into the tree fern garden dotted with colorful anthuriums and orchids. Go out the back door and down into the large back yard filled with fruit trees and other tropical delights. If it's a cloudless night go outside and be amazed by the explosion of stars that are visible. Because we are so far away from big city lights and smog Mauna Kea boasts several telescopes that look far into the heavens. You can see the telescopes (they look like little golf balls) whenever you get a glimpse of Mauna Kea. Be sure to drop by the Imiloa Center and Planetarium when in Hilo. It blends Hawaiian history with the stars and has some great shows.
