Theme Parks and Tourism: Disney World, Universal Studios, Seaworld, Gatorland, Wet 'n' Wild, Cypress Gardens, Arabian Nights, Dixie Stampede, Discovery Cove--all of these are within approximately 30 minutes of My Kokomo Home. A further drive of about an hour can take you to Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, and the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. About an hour's drive to the East leads to the Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach. Try a ride on an airboat or be really adventuresome and go for a hot air balloon ride. Visit a winery, or eat at one of the many specialty restaurants (Emerils, Margaritaville, Bubba Gump's, Hard Rock Cafe) at Universal's City Walk. Shopping opportunites are abundant - Eagle Ridge Mall in Lake Wales, several outlet malls, and the nearby cities of Lakeland, Kissimmee, and Winter Haven. Visit the Central Florida Tourist Information center 1/2 mile south of the I-4, US-27 intersection for more tourism information, as we don't have space to list it all.
Nature Lovers: There are many lakes in the Central Florida region and nearly all have an assortment of birds, otters and gators. The Audubon Birding Trail directs you to several bird watching sites within an easy distance. Flower lovers will enjoy the wide variety at Leu Gardens or Bok Towers. Lakeland is a convenient drive and provides more birdwatching (Lake Hollingsworth) and garden (Hollis Gardens) opportunities.
Southern Dunes and surrounding area: Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club is a highly-rated championship course (Par 72, 7227yards) open to the public. Rental clubs are available, as are lessons. The country club has a restaurant serving breakfast and lunch seven days a week. The Southern Dunes neighborhood includes community pools, playground, tennis courts, a lake, and a library. Nearby are restaurants and fast-food options.
