Just have a look at what there is to do!: When you first arrive in St. Remy de Provence, the best thing to do is to take a half-hour walk around the outsides of the city, along the path of the original 14th century town walls. This will help you to get your bearings. Then, look for the different, historic entries to the city, try any one of them as a starting point for your discovery of the shops, fountains, picturesque squares and historic buildings 'intra muros.' Remember to check out the menus posted outside of the many restaurants, too! Then, be sure to come back on Wednesday, when the whole village comes to life as the Provencal market rolls into town. What an atmosphere---quiet streets and squares become a thriving marketplace. There are still some bargains! Start out by stocking your kitchen shelves for your stay at Provence Paradise, then think about taking home some goodies for those who stayed behind to work, or watch the dog, or... Anyway, there is a bit of everything and everybody at the market! Come see!

And, what you and your family can learn!: The village of St. Remy stands on one of the oldest archaeological finds in Europe. The origins are Gallo-Roman from the 7th century BC until the 2nd century AD, at which time the Roman city of Glanum was founded. This was the origin of today's St. Remy de Provence. The museum at the GLANUM site is very well presented and there is friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand to guide you through the centuries. Our walls at Provence Paradise were built with stone original cut for Roman buildings and statuary. Check out the upside-down sundial in one of our walls. A great example of very early concern for re-cycling of carved stone! Then, there is the painting of Van Gogh. You can follow the artist's path through the town and the nearby countryside, to view things still from his perspective...little has changed! Then it's time to venture away from St. Remy in the direction of Arles--the 'Rome of the North,' or Avignon--'City of the Popes,' or Orange, with its Roman theatre

Who comes to Provence Paradise? When?: That is an interesting question! Now in our third year of rentals, about 60 percent of the guests who have made reservations for 2008 have been with us in either 2006 or 2007...or both. Folks often say: 'We were welcomed as email 'pen pals' & we left as family.' Indeed, very often. Our mix of families extends around the world. About 50 percent of our guests are native English speakers, from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America & the UK. The other 50 percent come from non-English speaking countries and are often multi-lingual; so there are no language barriers. Besides, we are there to help! Kids seem to thrive on this kind of multi-lingual/multi-cultural exchange. Young families, honeymoon couples, reunions of established/extended families, retired couples, artists, writers, even stage and cinema folks. A really interesting and fun mix of folks with many, varied interests! When to come? Anytime during the year. There is always something going on. Come see!

Ski: We have show skiing at Mont Ventoux, which reaches to 2,000 metres over sea level and is about 45 minutes from our Provence Paradise 'hamlet.' All levels of skiing are featured--- beginners, intermediate and 'black slope.' In addition, our guests can do day trips to the Hautes-Alpes, which are about 1 hours away, and where the skiing is even more challenging, at more than 2,900 metres. Golf: There are seven beautiful golf courses within less than 30 minutes ride from PROVENCE PARADISE. We have made special arrangements for the greens fee cost for our guests in the late season. You cannot afford to stay home. And, at the end of your round of golf, there are bistros and restaurants nestled in the villages and the hills all along the route that brings you home.
