For Water Lovers: Many of our guests are Kayakers or Sailors. The 'Maine Island Trail ' passes within view of your deck. Many of the islands in the area are open to camping and landing for the day. We are water people ourselves and have all kinds of 'local knowledge' that we just might share. Launching is possible across the road from our place (high tide) , or at numerous spots around the peninsula. There are two excellent ramps within 2 miles for launching bigger boats. During mid to late summer the Striper fishing gets pretty good in the bays of the area as well. There are some great schooners in Rockland, Rockport and Camden for a nice day trip. There are also numerous fresh water ponds and lakes rivers and streams within a short drive.
For Nature Lovers: There are many short hikes around the peninsula that take you to some beautiful stretches of coastline. Commonly spotted are seals, porpoises, herons, various shore birds, bald eagles, osprey, occasionally puffins. This is a very rural area, with lots of deer, moose, coyotes, etc. Within a half hour there are longer hikes through the hills, many with amazing views of Penobscot Bay. Monhegan Island is covered with hiking trails, and the ferry leaves from Port Clyde. You can't find too many more beautiful stretches of coast than here..
