One of the most popular events is the Shrimp Festival which is always held the first weekend in May. The streets of historic downtown Fernandina are filled with art, crafts, antiques, live music, children's activities and lots of delicious local seafood. A 50 block area of Downtown Fernandina Beach is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its amazing preservation of late Victorian architecture with its many mansions and cottages.
