Information about this house rental in South Strafford
Hard to beat this location. Equidistant to the Green Mountains of Vermont and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Vacation in a traditional 1812 Vermont Farmhouse. This farmhouse is attached to our own home, a renovated barn, and provides proximity to Morrill Homestead & Huntington Farm. While it is not in the wilderness, our house has the advantage of being very bicycle friendly and on a scenic bicycle loop. Walk into our back 40 and see one of the biggest trees in Vermont.
Twenty-five minutes or less to downtown West Lebanon, Quechee Gorge and Antique Stores, Woodstock, Suicide Six, Hanover, Dartmouth College. Montshire Museum (great for kids!) and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. One hour to Killington Ski Resort. Sam Adams brewery 40 minutes away. Easy access to Interstate 89. South Strafford hosts its own grocery store and the upper village 'Strafford' offers fine dining at the Stone Soup Restaurant. Private Chef may be available. House includes a washer and dryer.

Please note: Vermont in Autumn.
Vermont is renowned for the beauty of its foliage in Autumn. More colors come out in New England than almost anywhere else in the world, with the exception of Northern China. However, while the colors come out, the cluster flies come in. There are few houses in Vermont that are immune to cluster flies and ladybugs. There are *no* old traditional farmhouses that are immune to them. They are absolutely harmless and are only looking for a place to winter. As soon as they get into a house, they cluster in the windows wanting out. Some seasons are better, some are worse. If you are put off by flies, even the harmless ones, consider staying at a modern Inn, Motel or Hotel -- rural Vermont will *not* be for you.
