Acadia National Park: The second most visited park in the US, has spectacular views and a 20 mile Ocean Drive along high cliffs and thundering waves. It has caves to explore, numerous hiking trails, and one of the highest mountains on the east coast to view as far as Canada on a good day. Carriage roads abound for bikers, stables have horses for hire and horse drawn carriages are available to see the inner carriage roads. There are several museums to get a sense of the industry and history of the island.

Bar Harbor: You can still see some of the splendor that was Bar Harbor at the turn of the century. The town is full of stores, galleries and fine restaurants. There are two movie theaters for those rainy days, an aquarium, whale watching and boat trips. The high speed ferry to Nova Scotia offers a day trip or overnight possibilities.
