Further details about this house rental
Land details: This land was once the property of the Ward family, 8th generation farmers, mine and sawmill workers. The primary crop was corn, they also raised pigs and cattle. The remnants of foundations and chimneys of two houses can be seen on the land. Linzey Ward (82) and his wife Rexy(80) passed away with in weeks of each other in 2007 lived in the house right outside our gate that Linzey's father built in 1919. They piped their water from a spring in the woods near the guest house whose source is at the base of a tree. The area has long since been sold and the mountain surrounding the land which was once cleared to the top of the ridge has now gone back to nature. In the tree stand to the left is a large old soapstone rock that shows the carvings of bowls estimated to be about 3000 years old. This area is known for it's soapstone and huge rock formations (just ask my mower.) Deer, birds, wild turkeys, barred owls, hawks and foxes are among the wildlife that may be seen.
