Ideally located new home on 5 secluded acres in Somesville, a historic village close to the beauty and trails of Acadia National Park. “Deer Crossing” is centrally located on Mount Desert Island, near Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Bar Harbor. Walk to the Somesville’s landing on Somes Sound, or to Somes Pond for a swim. The architect-designed home is fully equipped-- huge living room with stone fireplace, large screened in porch, dining room seating 8, and two sunny terraces. On the first floor there is also a powder room (1/2 bathroom) and two twin-bedded rooms sleeping 2 each and a full bath, and a full kitchen with granite counter tops. On the second floor there is a large queen master bedroom with full bath. Furnishings include washer/dryer, all linens, Dish TV, VCR, stereo, CD player, charcoal grill, and lots of good books. Surrounded by blueberries and bunchberries, ferns and wild roses, the area around the house is open and sunny; the acreage beyond is wooded.

Cycling, hiking, swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, naturalist programs, whale watching, and sightseeing boat tours are all a short trip away. There is a path from the house into the woods that connects to paths on several adjacent properties. The pathway system connects to the village post office, market, charming library, historical museum, great bookstore, antique store, town landing, and the island’s free Explorer bus system that connects all major villages and sights. Somesville also has a summer theater.
