Wonderful Hiking: There are numerous local low exertion hikes that are highly rewarding. Consider visiting Mount Black, Cathedral Ledge State Park, Mount Willard, the Albany covered bridge, Diana's Baths, and the Madison Boulder. If possible consider a weekday trip on the Conway Scenic Railway to Bartlett or Crawford Notch. Visit the Saco River Ranger Station at the beginning of the Kancamagus Highway (on Route 112) for other ideas on local places to visit. If you are looking for more adventurous hikes, there are too many to list. Hike all the way up to the top of Mount Washington from Tuckerman Ravine or the Ammanoosuc Ravine, or start from Crawford Notch for some really steep hikes. Our grill policy . You use it you clean it . We find the best thing is to have our guests clean it at arrival . This policy assures that guests who use the grill will clean it. You may request that our caretaker clean it before your arrival . He'll charge a nominal fee .

Dining In or Out: During the evening, with the fully equipped kitchen prepare a fine meal at home, or visit any of the local restaurants in the Mount Washington Valley. One of our favorites is the Moat Mountain Brew Pub, for great barbecue. The Chamber of Commerce in North Conway will provide numerous pamphlets on fine dining in the valley.

Exciting off season upgrades : Our mantra is constant improvement. This year we're adding a bunk room bringing the total to 5 separate sleeping areas. ( completion 5/15) The kitchen has been fully updated and a more formal eating area separate from the kitchen that comfortably seats 8 has been added (5/1) . All flooring has been updated with wood or ceramic tile . Both bathrooms have been remodeled to the studs. Our den has had a complete makeover, to what we now call the Santa Fe room (4/15) . This fall the gas fired wood stove will be replaced with a regular gas fireplace centrally located for your comfort and pleasure. (9/1) And in conjunction with the facility upgrades we've completely refurnished !! New photos should be published shortly ( 6/1) . And of course we've improved the exterior with beach area enlargements If you haven't stayed with us recently you'll be very pleasantly surprised.

Ski: Our Getaway is located within 5 miles of King Pine and Cranmore ski areas. Enjoy cross country skiing around the Saco River Valley with information available at the 1785 Inn or enjoy cross country on the Pea Porridge Ponds, right outside the house door. For skating enjoy the Ham Arena in Conway, the town rink in North Conway and if the weather cooperates, anywhere on the Pea Ponds.
