Deer Isle is a unique island with many surprises which we wil direct you to. Kayaking, hiking and sailing are excellent on and off the island. We are l.0 miles from a small supermarket that will have all your needs. We are located on the southwest corner of the island with magnificent views of Penobscot Bay, lobster boats and schooners. One of the most interesting values of this island is the community of artists, galleries, and art programs for visitors. The well known Blue Heron Gallery in Deer Isle Village will reopen in the summer of 2008. The Haystack School of Craft has l and 2 week sessions for students of all ages, and an evening program of speakers open to the public. The Opera House in Stonington offers live theater and music throughout the summer.
