Lovely, clean, bright, quiet 3BR rental house in Southwest Harbor's shore village of Manset. Be sure to read the Guestbook comments! Fine views of Cadillac Mountain, Somes Sound and Southwest Harbor from sunny deck. Lots of windows for beautiful coastal light and air. House is set back 20 yards from the street and buffered by a dense line of arborvitae. Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms; 2 rooms with a queen bed in each, one room with 2 twins- great for kids, with a rocking chair for story time. Good closets in all bedrooms. One full bathroom with tiled tub and shower, plus half bath in master bedroom. Immense walk-out basement for all your sports gear. Furnished in a comfortable mix of new- sofa, easy chairs, deck furniture, all mattresses- and old- oak dressers, wicker chairs. Your rental stay includes all linens & kitchen gear, Weber grill on the deck, washer & dryer, cable TV programming, broadband internet, 27 inch TV, DVD and CD, stereo. Flower boxes and planters all around.

House is a two min. walk to the Manset shore and its boat ramp, restaurants and boating centers, notably the famous Hinckley Yachts complex. Also on the shore walk are sailboat and powerboat rentals, the town dock for a little fishing, and ferries to Somes Sound and Little Cranberry Island. The shore roads connect for a nice, low-traffic jogging or walking route. Four min. drive to Southwest Harbor stores, shops and restaurants. This is the 'Quiet Side' of Mt. Desert Island, with world-class kayaking and sailing, biking, hiking trails, swimming in salt and freshwater. Acadia National Park attractions within a 15 minute bike ride include Seawall, Wonderland, Ship Harbor, and Bass Harbor Light. Ten minute drive to Echo Lake Beach.

Further details about this house rental

Just a few words about the parking lot you see from the photo at rear of the house. It is a residents-only lot for Cranberry Isles people, and thus is not a busy or active lot. Islanders park, ride the passenger ferry, and return when they need their car for a trip to Ellsworth or Bangor. We are very sure you will not be aware of comings or goings. We were disappointed when it was built in 2003, but it was needed for the future of the off-shore islands. The big plus was that removing trees really opened up the views you'll have of the water and the hills.
