The private swimming pool: During your stay at La Fiorita you will certainly make use of the swimming pool, therefore, we recommend that you take maximum care, especially regarding the dangers for children. You must remember that the depth of the swimming pool ranges from 1.10 m in the shallow end to 2.10 m in the deep end, so when you dive in (only from the diving board) make sure you come up quickly so you don’t hit the bottom; five steps make it easier to get into and out of the water. It is also important to keep the water in the swimming pool as clean as possible because by recycling bacteria, the swimmers’ organic substances and atmospheric conditions alter its chemical and physical balance. Although the pool is treated in line with safety and hygiene standards and in compatibility with the human body, the balance could change before the periodical maintenance is carried out (on Wednesdays and Saturdays).

The exterior: Access to the property is through an automatic wrought iron gate which can be opened using the remote control that you will receive with the keys to the house. Inside, on the left there is a covered car park for the guests’ use with ample room for two cars; on the right is a bed of white roses and other climbing plants always in flower; carrying on into the property, on the left next to the swimming pool area a play area shaded by olives has been created for dogs. The entrance to the property is on the right, before the porphyry ramp, overlooking a large gravel drive and a pergola of vines with a table and chairs under two tall fir trees. The guests’ accommodation comprises three floors: the entrance floor (kitchen, washroom, lounge and toilet), the top floor (three bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower) and the attic (one bedroom and a bathroom with shower). The part underneath and the adjacent external area are at the owners’ disposal, who are present on WEDNESDAYS and SATURDAYS

History: On 23rd May every year in front of Neptune’s fountain in Piazza della Signoria, in the presence of the civil and religious authorities, the short, but significant ceremony of the “Fiorita” takes place on the circular marble plaque commemorating the execution of Frà Girolamo Savonarola (1452-1498). This tradition consists of decorating the place where the famous Dominican preacher was hung and burnt on 23rd May 1498 with flowers and palm leaves. The origin of the “Fiorita”, which continues to this day, dates back to the morning after the execution, when the place was covered in flowers, palm leaves and rose petals by the pitying hands of Savonarola’s followers who thus wanted to devotedly pay him immediate homage. This residence is named after this Florentine festival because it is said that Duccio Benaccorsi, a fabric merchant of that era, originally from Livorno, but who traded between Pisa, formerly a marine republic between the 12th and 13th centuries and port to the Eas
