Information about this house rental in Stratton Mountain
This house is located on a dead end dirt road in what is called the Pikes Falls community. It was built by people who came to Vermont in the forties to be with Scott Nearing, author of the book, Living The Good Life.
The house has a cheery electric kitchen and a pine paneled living room with hand-hewed beams and a brick fireplace. There is one bedroom downstairs with a queen bed and two bedrooms upstairs. One of the bedrooms upstairs has two double beds, the other bedroom has one double bed.
Comfortable for six. There is a split bath downstairs with a toilet and sink in one room and a tub with a shower and sink in another room. There is a second bathroom upstairs with a shower.
The house sits on wooded acres with a private pond 3/4 acre in size. The pond is great for swimming and fishing. It is both brook and spring fed. The pond floor slopes gently in, getting no more than eight feet deep in the middle. A rowboat is provided and a screened gazebo sits on the fa shore.

Activities available in the area include, hiking on the Long Trail, biking on country roads, additional swimming and sun bathing at Pikes Falls, just two miles down the road. For those who want a bit of civilization, summer theater, concerts and shopping are close by. Manchester is a short 20 minute drive away. The house is located 1 1/2 miles (a 5 minute drive) from Stratton Mountain Ski area, which in the summer offers tennis, golf, horseback riding and outdoor concerts.

This house is five minutes from the Stratton resort.
The fireplace in the Livingroom has a Innsbrook 35,000 btu propane fireplace insert which provides both entertainment and heat.
To get to the Stratton resort from the Cole House, you go down to the bottom of the lane, take a right on the Pikes Fall Road, 500 feet later, take a right up Brazier's way and in a couple of minutes you are first at the entrance to the Sunbowl or a minute later, the base lodge.
