Discover Serenity and Simplicity in La Jolla
La Jolla’s Calling Card
While La Jolla, California boasts an extensive array of attractions, its beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery are what draw vacationers towards its shores. As one of the most stunning spots in all of San Diego, La Jolla Cove and the Ellen Browning Scripps Park, which rests on the cliffs above the cove’s small sandy beach, have been the picture-perfect representation of La Jolla for the past 100 years. A simple walk through the park will guide you past some of California’s finest waterfront scenery and towards the wonderful swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking opportunities that await near the calm, clear waters. La Jolla Cove is also the beginning of the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park, which stretches to the northern tip of the Torrey Pines State Reserve and draws snorkelers and scuba divers en masse for the extensive flora and fauna (particularly the brilliant orange garibaldi).
Must-See La Jolla Beaches
Although this area is truly mesmerizing, you simply cannot miss the other sandy treasures that line the banks of this quaint community. After exploring La Jolla Cove, be sure to head a little further south to the Children’s Pool, where dozens of harbor seals can be seen relaxing along the shore (swimming is prohibited here, though). La Jolla Shores is another excellent option since this fine sand beach offers calm, gentle waves and a variety of recreational pursuits such as swimming, body boarding, sunbathing, and jogging. If you can spare the time, consider a stroll to the secluded and naturally stunning Black’s Beach, located between La Jolla Shores and Torrey Pines State Beach, since its 300-foot-high cliffs, excellent swimming conditions, and picturesque surroundings make for an unforgettable experience.
Local Attractions
Even if the beaches are what draw you to La Jolla, there is certainly plenty more to see and do should you feel the need to escape the sun for at least a few hours. The Birch Aquarium allows you and your family to experience the wonders of underwater life up close, while the La Jolla Playhouse offers the perfect cultural nightcap to an exhausting outdoor-oriented day. A day of utter relaxation is always at the beck and call of those staying in La Jolla condo rentals since they are just steps away from the 30-block La Jolla Village, where boutiques, galleries, specialty shops, and jewelry stores invite visitors to explore the area’s world class shopping.
