Do the Hula in Kula
The beach is nice of course, but sometimes heading upcountry is a treat as well. Maui has many charms and there’ll be time to do plenty of exploring, but as far as picking a place to lay your head each night, don’t dismiss an inland location with more fresh air and panoramic views than you’ll know what to do with.
An authentic agricultural landscape that includes orchards ripe with papayas, limes, oranges and mangoes as well as flowers of various exotic variety will spice up the scene from your bedroom window, which you’ll probably tend to leave open at night in order to capture the fragrant breezes (don’t worry, bugs are scarce up here). Wander through the wilds or stop by Kula Botanical Gardens to take it all in.
The perks of being perched on the slopes of Haleakala Crater are endless, and you’ll surely want to comb through them all. Hiking, biking, exploring and meandering are a few ways to traverse the picturesque hills and valleys; see if you can find a few more ways to appreciate the rural simplicity and rugged charm.
Translating to “open meadows,” Kula is, as you can see, a quiet and lovely place. More locals than tourists and a heavenly point of view - not to mention access to Maui’s numerous attractions and beaches - surely give this destination all it takes to win you over, so take advantage of a private vacation home with all the trimmings and look inward for your next trip.
