CyberRentals was founded in 1987 by Hunter Melville and Dave Bollinger. CyberRentals.com is the original worldwide on-line vacation rental listing directory. Recognized as an industry leader in publications ranging from the Wall St. Journal to Yankee Magazine, CyberRentals.com has received many awards, including being named to the 2006 list of "Best on the Web" by Forbes magazine. CyberRentals.com is today one of the largest worldwide collections of vacation rental properties, serving millions of renters seeking the perfect vacation, and more than 25,000 vacation rental property owners seeking perfect renters.

Originally property managers, Hunter and Dave became frustrated with the limited marketing options available for promoting their unique vacation opportunities through a variety of inefficient resources—newspaper and magazine ads, and brochures—and recognized the need for reasonably priced marketing channels for property owners. The company became a publisher of vacation rental listing magazines focused on New England. But the success of the magazines created a new challenge to provide a quality environment to the thousands of customers wanting to buy space in an advertising vehicle with size limitations.

In 1995, Hunter and Dave moved online, creating CyberRentals.com, what is regarded by industry watchers as the first worldwide Web site dedicated to matching vacationers with owners. As more and more people around the world looked first to the internet to plan their vacations, CyberRentals.com grew to become the company's primary product.

In 2000 Cyberrentals.com joined with three other vacation rental companies to form Rentors.org (www.rentors.org) The purpose of Rentors.org is to provide owners of vacation rental properties with tools, calendars and guest books that can be used on any Web site.
