California’s Desert Area is a True Land of Opportunity

When you think of the California Desert Area and all of the fine resort towns that dot its landscape, the first things that probably come to mind are golf and near perfect weather. With 350 days of sunshine and 114 golf courses, this assessment is certainly on par with the area, but there is so much more to discover if you are willing to look beyond the greens and fairways.

Nestled into the Coachella Valley Desert, larger towns such as Palm Springs and La Quinta certainly hold plenty of allure with their wide range of recreational activities. Indian Wells is an excellent off the beaten path destination as the home of three outstanding spa facilities, the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and The Living Desert Zoo. Indio, sometimes referred to as the City of Festivals, could also top your list if you can’t resist a charming, friendly community.

When you consider the other opportunities for adventure and relaxation that are waiting for you in the Joshua Tree National Park, at Palm Desert’s McCallum Theatre for the Performing Arts, and at the Palm Springs Desert Museum, it certainly seems that the Desert Area is more than just a place to hit the links.
