Beech Mountain is More than a Winter Wonderland

Although most people only consider the amazing skiing that surrounds Beech Mountain, this town is actually an all-season recreational wonderland where you can enjoy the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Winter is one of the best times to visit Beech Mountain since the exciting Ski Beech Resort comes to life and invites to you enjoy the highest ski area in the east. With 15 downhill trails, an ice skating rink, a freestyle terrain area, and a charming Alpine Village (complete with restaurants and shops), it is the perfect place for a powder-filled getaway.

However, once the snow has melted off the slopes, Beech Mountain really begins to show its true colors. As lush greens and cool summer temperatures beckon you outdoors for recreational pursuits such as tennis, golf, hiking, fishing, and mountain biking, all you need to do is find a place to start and the terrain can take it from there.

There are several hiking and biking trails around the area lakes, but the most popular option is the Pond Creek Hiking Trail, which originates in Perry Park and winds its way past Coffey Lake and a few beautiful waterfalls. However, if you prefer to get out on the water rather than walk around it, both Buckeye Lake and Coffey Lake offer excellent trout fishing (just be sure to get the necessary licenses before setting out).

Tennis and golf enthusiasts will want to do a little research before booking their accommodations since only specified Beech Mountain rentals have access to the Beech Mountain Club. Boasting an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Willard Byrd, ten Har-tru clay tennis courts, and a swimming pool, you can participate in all of your favorite activities with just a few steps out the front door.
