Located in one of the most spectacular and exciting regions of the Outer Banks, Avon invites you to release your inner adventurer and partake in some heart-pounding, seaside activities you will never forget.

With beaches that are a part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, you’ll find water temperatures that are 10 degrees higher than in northern towns such as Nags Head and Corolla in addition to sand dunes, pristine beaches, marshes, and woodlands that create a picture-perfect backdrop for all of your recreational pursuits.

So what is there to do in Avon? In a word – plenty. Avon is world-renowned for its kite boarding and wind surfing on Hatteras Island, but you don’t have to be an active participant to enjoy the show. Warm windy evenings are a great time to kick back on the beach and watch the brightly colored sails and kites moving gracefully around the sound.

While Avon is a champion surfers delight, those with less polished skills can still take to the water on a sport fishing excursion in search of marlin, sailfish and giant bluefin tuna.
