Classic, fully updated Vineyard home on three acres, in a quiet location, surrounded by farms and conservation land, just a few minutes to Menemsha and Lucy Vincent beach, walk to West Tisbury village. Downstairs is a spacious, comfortably furnished living room, dining room with an antique piano, fully equipped eat-in country kitchen, large laundry room with washer and dryer, pantry, and a bathroom with shower. There’s one bedroom downstairs and five more upstairs, two of them with skylights, and another large bathroom with tub/shower. The broad, sunny deck overlooks the scenic property with its bamboo grove, and is a perfect place to relax, eat, entertain, and bird watch. There’s also an enclosed outdoor shower. Built by Captain Francis Cottle, a Vineyard whaler, the property later acquired exotic specimen trees from Harvard's arboretum, creating a beautiful and unique landscape enclosed by original stone walls. Two families could easily share this spacious and comfortable home.

The fishing village of Menemsha is a short drive away--fresh fish and lobsters and a beach with sunset views. Walk to West Tisbury Village, past a farmstand and the horses at Brookside Farm, to browse at Alley's General Store, rent bikes, or visit the library, playground, or twice-weekly Farmer's Market. This part of the island has many walking paths on conservation land--woods, fields, hills, and beaches. The house is centrally located on the island between Aquinnah's scenic cliffs and the island's varied towns with their restaurants, shops, nightlife, and historic districts.
