Juniper Cottage shares with our home two lovely acres in Somesville, a historic village at the heart of Acadia National Park. It is just a short walk to the library, bookstore, repertory theater, church, museum, and convenience store. Both ocean and lake are within walking distance also. The view from our property is of Cadillac Mountain., across thoughtfully landscaped lawns and gardens. Juniper's screened porch and gas fireplace make it a charming home away in any season.

Somesville is virtually surrounded by Acadia National Park. The village itself is right on Somesville Sound, the natural fjord that comes up to the center of the island. You can walk to the Somesville Landing from our property and sit by the ocean and watch the boats coming into the harbor as well as the abundant wildlife, including bald eagles and busy ospreys. We have an outstanding repertory theater in the village, and the island in general is alive all season with music, art, lobster festivals, Acadia National Park events, and endless fresh and saltwater activities: schooner excursions, whale watches, kayaking tours, canoe rentals, and miles of hiking trails.
