It’s all About the Boardwalk in Venice Beach

Although Venice Beach boasts all of your favorite waterfront activities along its three mile stretch of sand, this a mere afterthought compared to what lies mere steps away from the beach.

The Venice Beach Boardwalk is one of the most popular boardwalks in the entire county, and it is easy to see why when you consider all of the action that surrounds it on weekends and during the summer. Street performers populate every intersection along Ocean Front Walk and draw attention away from the shops as they juggle chain saws, play the guitar on rollerblades, spew fire from their mouths, and balance women on their chins.

If the jugglers, musicians, comedians, dancers, and various other entertainers create the circus-like atmosphere, the visitors to the boardwalk only add to the overwhelming feeling. You never know what you might see in regards to clothing, tattoos, and face painting since the mix of people is always a bit eclectic, so plant yourself in front of a café for some of the best people-watching around.

While walking the boardwalk is best if you want to stop by some of the street vendors and pick up a souvenir, rollerblading or bicycling along the bike path is an excellent alternative if you want to get a little exercise in this lively and picturesque setting.

As you make your way past the performers, people, shops, and restaurants (hopefully stopping in to try something out of the ordinary), eventually you’ll come across the famous Muscle Beach. A California original, fanatic bodybuilders flock to this outdoor gym and show off their incredible strength in full view of the boardwalk.

After a stop by Muscle Beach, be sure to claim a seat at the nearby basketball courts for a jaw-dropping display of skill and competitive fire. The athletes that come here to play are truly amazing, and you may even catch a professional taking on some of Venice Beach’s best.
