Courtyard suite and adjacent Terracotta Room. Sleeps four, on the ground floor. The Courtyard suite is decorated throughout in pretty blue and white, with hand-made tiles in the kitchen and shower room, and original prints throughout. It has twin beds which can convert into a comfortable large king-size bed, shower room, kitchen with 3 burner stove, and oven, double sink & fridge. This is open plan with the living room, which has a comfortable sofa, cane chairs, and cushioned seating for at least 6, and there is a cosy fireplace for chilly evenings. The room opens through French windows onto a private walled dining area within the flower-filled outer courtyard. The adjacent Terracotta room is directly across the hall. It has twin beds, washbasin and the use of a nearby shower and loo. The Courtyard suite is available separately (sleeps 2) , and is the most suitable in La Casa for anyone with mobility difficulties, young families and the elderly. (Note however steep front door step).

  • This is the price for four people for the Courtyard suite and Terracotta room. Please add £40 pp for extra camp bed or cot/high chair. The prices for separate rental of the courtyard suite is the same as for the Terrace suite and Moorish Cottage (not shown)see Terrace suite rates, for two people.     Extra nights, over 1 week pro rata. Booking of less than one week, rates are negotiable. Please ask for a quote.
    Please note that due to building works next door, we are currently offering a 15% discount on all our apartments until 13 March 09. All building work has now moved indoors, so it is hoped noise will be minimal.The project should be finished by early Spring 09.
  • We are happy to pencil you in for a few days (please give us your phone number if you wish us to do this) but a 50% deposit is required to hold the booking, the balance being due 8 weeks before departure. We have added a daily rate in case you wish to extend your holiday, but cannot offer shorter than a week booking, unless it is in the low season, or last minute.
  • Welcome packs: we always provide a basic snack and drink on arrival. For a bigger welcome pack add £20 per 2 people.

There are rugs on the floor, bedside tables, and individual, wall-mounted bedside lights. Electric blanket in the winter and an electric radiator. En-suite shower room. Bedroom 2 is adjacent to the Courtyard suite, across the hall. It has twin beds, wardrobe, and washbasin. Use of adjacent shower room off the communal living room.

Notes: The Courtyard apartment is on the ground floor of the house, with the twin-bedded 'Terracotta room' across the hall,(the shower room for this is adjacent)The combination is on one level and is the only one in the complex recommended for the elderly or disabled, (However there is a very steep step on entering the house itself, and steps, and rough paths in parts of the garden). The accommodation is ideal for a family. It can also be combined (up a spiral staircase, s/c within the Courtyard suite) with the Terrace suite (see other section for details), to make a fine 6 bed apartment, and the studio, which if added would sleep 10.We have 2 tape/CD players in the house - please book if you wish to use them. We ask smokers to smoke outside.

Spectacular mountain setting: La Casa de la Palmera is located below the castle of the Eagles in the unspoilt village of Gaucin with spectacular views of mountains, rooftops and olive groves. The apartments have been decorated traditionally with hand-made tiles, hand-painted furniture, antique pots and paintings. The house featured in the March 2003 issue of House and Garden Magazine, and previously in Gib Air in-flight magazine, and Country Living. The splendid garden packed with exotic plants, shady vine covered pergolas, sun beds and pool, can be enjoyed most of the year. River, pool and sea swimming are nearby and it is a perfect base for walking, bird- watching, painting and touring. Day trips are possible to Ronda, Seville and Tangiers. Our house managers are very knowledgeable about where to go and what to do in the area, can organise guided walks to suit your abilities, or suggest walks for you to take independentlly . Contact us for more information.

Flexible accommodation: By combining the different apartments we are able to accommodate any number from 1 - 13. (Not suitable for young children except babies.) The Courtyard suite and Terrace apartments both sleep 2 but also combine to make a fine 4 bedded self contained unit, and if combined also with the Terracotta room, would sleep 6, and with the studio 8. (this is the whole of the main part of the house) The Moorish Cottage (not shown - details available on our own website) is away from the main house and accommodates 2 (perfect for a honeymoon)but a sofa bed can be added.Camp beds and cots are also available.The best family economy combination is the courtyard suite and terracotta room which are adjacent, and the Terrace/Studio combination. The Terrace suite is a favourite for many couples, as it has a large private terrace with wonderful views of the garden and village. Perfect for a romantic getaway. It is a high gabled room, open-plan living room/ bedroom with kitchenette & large bathroom.

All year holiday: During the summer months guests make the most of living and eating outside (each apartment has its own private outside eating area) and there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the communal gardens and pools with a choice of several places to sit in the shade under umbrellas and pergolas, or lounge in the sun, beside the pool or in the garden. We do not have central heating, but in the winter we enjoy a mountain climate often with warm days, and cool evenings around a blazing log fire (warm clothes are a must). Electric heaters and blankets make a winter stay cosy.It may rain heavily in the low season, so guests need to be prepared, but the mountain air, spectacular mists and occasional thunder storms make for a dramatic healthy climate. In the Spring and Autumn, our house managers Alma and Jorrian who have a wide knowledge of the countryside can tailor wonderful walks to suit your personal interest be it birdwatching, botanical, archaeological or simply fun.
