Andalusia Vacation Rentals

Renting a holiday home or villa in Andalucia is a fine way to experience the beauty of southern Spain. While there are many miles of beaches to enjoy in Andalucia, because of its location jutting into the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, the beaches have very different characters. The Mediterranean coast in the east has calmer water but more dramatic landscapes, with cliffs rising above flat beaches. The Costa de la Luz ranges from resort-like tourist complexes to quaint fishing villages. Fresh seafood and fruits are the culinary highlights here. La Rabida, a 15th century convent, once housed Christopher Columbus as he waited to go on his journey and today contains some of his belongings. The Costa del Sol is the main tourist draw of this region, largely because of its warm temperatures, beautiful beaches and dozens of golf courses. Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol, offers sights such as monuments, museums, old churches, and the remnants of a Moorish fortress. The Costa Tropical, reaching toward Africa but positioned between the Mediterranean and the Sierra Nevada mountains, has a subtropical climate that gives it sunshine nearly every day of the year. The Costa Tropical bears many of the markings of its Moorish past, with white buildings and old Arab fortifications. Despite the warm climate, it is possible to go winter skiing in the Sierra Nevada. Another popular area is the Costa de Almeria, which has wide beaches, jutting cliffs, Roman and Arab archeological sites and fortresses. The variety of terrain in Andalusia is reflected in its lodging. You can choose from Moorish-style villas for rent, or more traditional apartments, condos and holiday cottages and houses.
