Lying between the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia, Petroio is a small medieval hill town, surrounded by beautiful Tuscan countryside. The quiet village is free of mass tourism, but has a small store, bakery and restaurant/bar. Petroio is the perfect base for visiting many renowned sites in Tuscany and Umbria, as well as the innumerable small, virtually unknown villages, each with its own individual charm. The village is an ideal starting point for walks and bicycle rides. The apartment is mainly on the ground floor, with one bedroom up an internal staircase. Both bedrooms have ensuite bath/shower. There is a large living/dining room, with a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and a washing machine. The arched windows open on to the terrace and garden (shared with another flat) from where there is a fabulous view. The flat can be connected to the directly adjoining flat to provide total accommodation for six people. Renovated in 2006 to an exceptionally high standard

Petroio, a picturesque, medieval village of Etruscan origin with its spiralling, stone paved main (and only) street, perches on top of a hill above the Val di Chiana. Close to the Tuscany/Umbria border, it is a perfect base for visiting an area rich in history, art, architecture and landscape. Montepulciano and Pienza are close by, while Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Chiusi (Etruscan museum) and Montalcino are all under an hours drive. Florence, Perugia, San Gimignano, Assisi are within easy distance. Sant'Anna in Camprena (with its frescos by Sodoma) forms part of the view from the terrace. For the more sybaritic there are many good restaurants, from the four star l'Amorosa down to simple family owned restaurants, and ample opportunities to sample the local wines, cheese and other specialities. The shopaholics can indulge themselves in the nearby towns whether they crave fashion, shoes, leather goods, local artefacts, or almost anything else.
