Information about this house rental in Kyparissia
This property consists of 2 walled and self contained old stone buildings on the edge of a traditional Greek village with sea views in one direction and stunning mountain views the other. Airports: 3 hours from Athens airport, 90 minutes from Araxos and 45 minutes from Kalamata, but a world away. Both are stylishly renovated to keep the traditional warmth and appeal but adding all the modern luxury. You can rent both buildings together (10 people) or either building individually: The Stone House (6) and Papous' House (4). Please check the individual property details below for more. A 10 minutes drive below the village are the many unspoilt beaches of Messinia including our favourite, Sani Beach, with a great taverna on the sand. The mountains lie just behind with ruins of Ancient Figalea, Temple of Vasses, the Neda Valley Gorge Trek and waterfalls. Both places provide ideal bases for beach holidays, mountain walks and rides (2 mountain bikes available for hire) or for just the sun.
Details for The Old Stone House
The Old Stone House has a wall running around the garden perimeter which includes olive and coconut trees and a covered pool (a small swimming pool 11m squared with two sun terraces). There are 5 terraces in all, including at least three dining areas, one covered for shade. Hooks are in place for hammocks to be hung near the pool or on one of the lower terraces near the mulberry tree. The whole house has been designed with safety gates for small children on all steps and stairs as well as on both routes to the pool. In addition the walled garden combines both privacy and security. The main room is exceptionally large and takes up most of the first floor - with glass replacing most of the sea facing wall to give views of Kefalonia and Zante as well as the village below. For those seeking summer sun there are infinite spots to lay back and for those seeking winter warmth the central heating and log fire will be a welcome return after the mountain walk.

The village of Agaliani is a typical rural Peloponnesian community. Predominantly it’s a farming community of olives, sheep and vines. The stretch of coast between Kyparissia and Pyrgos has been untouched by tourism and has some of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Peloponnesian including a 60 km stretch of white sand running from just below the village all the way to Pyrgos. Inland you immediately see the mountains and there are endless ancient sites, villages and walks to be discovered without any effort at all. Just head in any direction and discover. There is a wonderful taverna in the village within 200 of you. Kyparissia is the main market town (15-20 min. away). Here you find shops, banks, restaurants, bars and Greek nightclubs! The village itself has also a tiny cafe which looks exactly as it must have 100 years ago, with photos of the owner Costas getting married on his horse. The Kafenion chairs and table spill out onto the road.

Notes:
The bathroom is a beautifully designed and spacious room where the tub has views of the sea (plus shower fitting). The extra shower is outside on the main terrace below the pool (with hot and cold water) and is wonderful in summer, but not winter! The Greeks in the local village tend to sleep between 2 – 5 p.m. (they call it the 'Mesi Meri') and we would ask for the utmost respect between these hours in terms of noise levels. In return they will almost certainly be buying your drinks at the local cafe if you go up (and not the other way around).
