This cozy US style Bed and Breakfast overlooks a working farm; 15,000 orange trees, as well as fields of alfalfa and corn, artichokes and melons. Nestled in the heart of Region V, Zona Frutales, the owner rides in Chilean rodeo, so horses are available for trips into the countryside. Each guest room is equipped with a private bathroom/ shower and has a patio and pool that overlooks the countryside. Located a little over an hour’s drive north on scenic Rt. 5 from Santiago, it’s a quiet getaway - or if you’re up for adventure, a taste of local life can be arranged; scenic tours, rodeo trips, trail rides, authentic Chilean cooking in a Chilean home, as well as a day tour of the best of the nearby Pacific beaches and restaurants. Stay one day or several - open December 1 through April 1.

This is a rich farming region spotted with small towns, each with its own medialuna or rodeo ring and 'ramada' where local folks celebrate both victories and defeats with dancing and song. The town of Nogales is in the Aconcagua River Valley, separated from the Pacific by a range of coastal mountains that provide spectacular panoramic views of the countryside as one drives to Zapallar and the spectacular undeveloped coastline. Local customs abound - horse drawn carts work side by side with modern earth moving equipment as the country develops the infrastructure to support its growing agricultural economy.

Notes: This property is a working farm with a private guestroom and bath in a lovely setting. One of us is primarily English-speaking and one primarily Spanish-speaking - we live here for 6 months of each year and enjoy our guests. We will take our cues from you as to how much privacy or socializing you wish. This place is ideal for a traveling person or couple (or a couple with small children) as a base from which to explore 'El Norte Chico' or, since it is close to Rt 5, as an overnight stay on the trip north to La Serena or Coquimbo. For those who want to explore, any number of activities can be arranged to enrich the experience of this unique area.
